BCS leagues expanding - yeah?

    All of it is insane. Just break off football and keep the leagues as they were.

    The crazy thing is the sane decision would save them millions. Let USC and and UCLA be in a football conference with Ohio State and Michigan.

    Let the USC and UCLA softball teams be in a conference with Arizona State and Arizona. The money saved on travel for every other sport is a significant number.

    Point of order: USC doesn't have a softball team. But otherwise, excellent post.

    The one drawback to this is that the football programs will then demand an almost total share of athletic department revenue. And they'll get it.

    They subsidize every other sport as is right now; there'd be no difference

    The football programs will move to end those subsidies and keep the loot for themselves..

    Yeah. I can understand his thinking that, but saying it loud in front of a camera? Not only is it a bad look and bad politics, but you're giving reasons for other elite programs to stick a knife into your program any chance they get.
