It's over. At least The Mountain's season.
As Ben McDonald pointed out, Bautista didn't take a warm-up/investigative pitch. He knew he was done.
I'm guessing we won't see him again this year. So the question becomes whether Cano becomes the new closer and Fuji moves into the eighth-inning role or whether any other combinations might be in play.

The other day, the O's did something that may not have any precedent, and it was necessary: They demoted a guy with a 9-1 record to the minors.

And Coulombe comes in inheriting a 2-2 count, throws one pitch, gets a strikeout (dropped, batter tagged) and a save.

Not bad for just one pitch.

The bigger concern is the one before that though - Bautista’s last for now.

Random stat of the day from Elias: Bo Naylor became the first Canadian to homer in his first at-bat in Canada.

“Some degree of UCL injury” for Bautista. I’m sick to my stomach.

I've been expecting this. And as disheartening as it is to hear, Hyde's going to have to make the right moves.

Frankly, I don't think that right move would be to move Cano to the ninth inning. I'd really like to see him keep Cano right where he is, and give either Cionel Perez or Jacob Webb the first shot at closing. They've both been overwhelming the past few weeks.
