Where do you think old people come from?

    One-time 18-year-olds.

Ted Nugent was 19 years old during the Summer of Love.

I often wonder what Nugent’ politics were back then, if he had any political leanings at all. As I remember, he took some rather drastic measures to avoid serving in Vietnam. If he was more liberal then, what caused the change?
Does getting older, being a parent and a grandparent do that to people?
I guess people change but I still think it’s somewhat phony when he talks about “God, family and country “ when there was a time when he obviously didn’t care about those things.

It wouldn’t be Gaetz, but Neal Dunn is just as bad without the zipper problems.

I wasn't sure it that was part of Gaetz's district or not. He's up there somewhere in the panhandle where they're likely to get some damage.

I've often wondered the same about Charlie Daniels' heel turn. He campaigned for Carter but for some reason changed course in the early to mid 80s.

I think as everyone ages, you really have to fight that urge to turn into the Skinner meme - whether you're Charlie Daniels, Alice Cooper or some random dude that enjoyed going to Dead and Who shows.

Nobody can vote against the first round of FEMA aidl. It is automatic after the President declares a natural disaster and is already budgeted.

Sinatra was one of Hubert Humphrey's biggest supporters in '68...cut a campaign ad for him as well. Later became a Reaganite. :(

They've all voted against various aid and infrastructure packages to other states in the past. Now that there's a chance of credit claiming, they'll be front and center.

He was just pissed that the Kennedys cut him out after the '60 election.

From what I’ve read, it was a huge deal in the South for one of their own to have a shot at (and win) the White House. Regional loyalty was able to paper over ideological differences for a time. And Carter (and really Clinton) was not some liberal squish on economics. Appointed rate hawk Volker as Fed chair and began dismantling the ICC among other moves. He just couldn’t overcome the twin hurricanes of an oil shock-induced recession and the Iran hostage crisis.
