The Twins are familiar with the works of Pablo Neruda.

Bryon Buxton: Where'd you get that five bucks?
Rocca Baldelli: I sold my soul to Brian Cashman so he'd make the Yankees miss the playoffs.

Guardians season on the line and Kole Calhoun gets two two-out ABs.

And jacks a three-run homer in one of them.

He’s been better than he has any right to be at 36 and off the scrap heap.

25 a year for the rest of his contract gets him to 500

He is well on his way to the Hall of Fame. He's got a shot to approach the hype, which is remarkable.

That HR he hit the other night (~115 mph exit velocity) was shocking.

Imagine for a moment if Mike Trout of south Jersey hadn't signed that long-term deal with the Angels and had a chance to go home and play alongside of Harper. Presumably they'd have been surrounded by more talent and administrative/managerial competence than Trout and Ohtani have had in Orange County.

Interesting but I don't know, I think Trout sort of likes the anonymity. I'm sure he'd like to win and he'd be fine in Philly or another bigger baseball market, but he's just a dreadfully boring dude. Harper, for better and for worse, needs and craves the attention. He was never gonna "settle" for several hundred million dollars in a place he was already happy.
