I like it fine as long as the internet and point of sale systems are up to the task. I've been in long lines because the venue was card only but the checkout process was very slow due to inadequate bandwidth or crappy software. It's frustrating as hell to have made and gotten your order and having to stand there for a couple of minutes while the poor cashier tries to complete the transaction.

Welp. I've been pissed ever since the ACC started breaking up the Big East. Seems like there's no point in complaining now, though.

I am looking forward to adding another wrestling team to the league. The first Stanford-Carolina dual should be a touch awkward though. Stanford's coach - one of the three or four best in the sport - left after only two years to return to Chapel Hill earlier this week. I'm afraid Stanford just kills wrestling though. They tried once already and now all their league opponents are 2,700+ miles away.

That one will forever grind my gears. After years of being laughed at as Miami and seven mid teams, 2002 saw Miami really being challenged by Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Pitt -- all four of whom either finished in the top 25 or were in the rankings down the stretch. WVU had RichRod building towards the greatest run in school history, Beamer had Virginia Tech at its peak powers, Wlat had Fitzgerald and a pretty decent defense and Boston College, Syracuse and even Temple had some fight in them. Pitt was an overthrown pass away from beating Miami on a Thursday night in the old Orange Bowl and Boston College was on their way to dethroning them until Ed Reed did Ed Reed things. Real dislike and rivalries were starting and eastern football, not just Miami, was starting to become something worth watching. Then, almost on cue, Swofford came calling.

So they made a ... gasp ... counter-(counter-)offer? Totally see how that puts it in the "Total scam on all sides" territory.

All those schools are in the ACC now, save By-God and Temple. And all of those schools are shells of themselves, thanks to regular pantsings by Clemson and on occasion FSU.

I wonder if By-God would ever make the leap. They tried for a couple decades to get in, then settled for the XII. At this point, tho, the money probably doesn't work.

Imagine having to bribe and beg your way into being allowed to sit with the fourth-most-popular clique in the school cafeteria.

Some of us don't have to imagine that.

That'll be the next phase of the evolution, as the P4 slowly becomes the P2: Entrance fees just like the pro leagues have.

"What's that you say, Pitt? You want into the Big 10? Yeah, no sweat, man. That'll be $50 million."
