Guy Lafleur and the Habs was messy, in some ways worse than Roy.

Roy was messy but inevitable and had to happen, right?

As much as I wish Chuck got to announce a Cup in Hartford in '86 (eat shit you fucking fucker Claude Lemieux) or '97 (there was a brief spell in that final season where the Whalers looked like a legit contender), I am glad he got to experience a title and deliver a championship-winning call. Especially since he mentioned the Whalers as time expired. Eat shit you fucking fucker Karmanos!!!! :D

He apparently wanted out, and there are all sorts of rumours.

I’ve heard that after the morning skate he bumped into Mike Vernon at the little diner by the Forum. Roy told Vernon he was miserable, Vernon said that’s how he was in Calgary and found a new lease on life in Detroit. Apparently that was the final push Roy needed.

My recollection is vague but seem to remember Roy and Mario Tremblay had issues as teammates. Then, Tremblay became head coach. Cannot remember if that was a Serge Savard or Rejean Houle hire. As a general manager, Houle was a pretty good player.

My memory is that Houle hired Tremblay, or they came in together hired by Corey.

Houle had no experience and was terrible, and was ordered to cut the budget as well. Just a recipe for disaster.

I don’t recall specific beef between Roy and Tremblay as players, but Tremblay didn’t like superstars being treated differently. I don’t think the players cared, plus he was a goalie so they get an extra long leash.

Mine was always Ee-von Corn-why-ay! I had no idea it was spelled Yvan Cournoyer for years.

Clemens and the Red Sox. Duquette made some comment ,Clemens left, got super roided up, and returned to Fenway to abuse the Red Sox while staring at the owners box every time he walked off the mound. Later forces a trade to the Yankees.

Correct. I'd include John Forslund ... who at least got picked up by the Seattle Kraken, where he and Ron Francis continue good work in spite of Tom Dundon. Good for both of them.
