If Clemson isn't going to go all-in with NIL and the portal, what the hell is the point of looking to leave the ACC for the SEC? the conference already has a team from South Carolina that goes 7-5 annually.

I don't think the NIL is the issue with Clemson, the kids there are getting money. Dabo just doesn't want to use the transfer portal...at all. I think he has two transfers total in the past two years and has lost about 25.

To Dabo's credit, he doesn't process kids either like Saban is long known for doing. If he recruits a kid and the kids stays on the practice squad for five years, he'll keep him on scholarship as long as he makes the grade, attends practice and doesn't do anything stupid.

End of the day, he's got his own thing and for a while it won Clemson a lot of games. Now it's probably not going to win as many.

There’s still enough talent on hand that Clemson shouldn’t be self destructing multiple times inside the opponent’s 10 yard line. It’s not just the portal issue.

Obviously the transfer portal wasn't the reason that they fumbled twice inside the five yard line. Fumbles happen.

The portal issue comes when Duke is well matched up with Clemson at size, speed and talent with 5th and 6th year guys on the roster. They lack quality depth at wide receiver, offensive line and in the front line. They can't just run out fresh DL like they used to.

Under how many handles does Paul Finebaum post here?

Not quite 20 years ago, Finebaum was hanging around the media room at the local Senior PGA stop on pro-am day. He talked to nobody and looked as though he might burrow into the earth’s crust if anyone approached him. (He was routinely savaging Bama football in the Shula years and was in genuine danger of an ass kicking if he met the wrong dude.)

So based on that highly scientific sample I will guess zero. I don’t think he even cares about sports anymore except when they throw the switch to direct deposit.

When I was around him (35+ years ago) he was the guy pretending to not be a 'Bama homer (yes, I know ... he went to Tennessee). Remember fondly those deep-dive columns he'd write right after the Alabama spring game, when he'd go through the upcoming season and predict not only Ws and Ls but actual scores.

That’s as much a product of feeding the beast in a market that is batshit bonkers for college football coverage any day of the year.

The Barneys "quickly turning insufferable?" Ask anyone from UR and W&M, they've been that way for years and years.

Unfortunately, UVA's one (1) healthy scholarship QB is a true freshman who may not make it to the second semester. So...yeah.
