Well, Siegemund did her part -- she and Zvonareva won to get to the semifinals -- but Gauff and Pegula were ousted today by the unlikely-in-multiple-ways team of Taiwan's 37-year-old Hsieh Su-Wei and China's 22-year-old Wang Xinyu. Too bad. The drama could have been fun.

Muchova is handing this one to Gauff. 11 unforced errors, and on really easy balls. Coco hasn't had to do anything spectacular -- she hasn't even been tested (as Chrissy just said).

And just as I say that, Coco hands a break to Muchova.

And now the worm has turned. Muchova finally playing with confidence, Gauff looking shaky and her 5-1 lead is now 5-4.

What an ugly set. Neither player looks like a champion here. Between them they have seven winners and 29 unforced errors.

Coco is just lobbing the groundies back (no aggression, at least last 4 games) and then Muchova is missing easy shots.

Few things are more obvious than when a tennis player gets tight.

Good luck in the third set, Madison.

(Also, Sabalenka has hit bombs in the second half of the second set. But, well...)
