Seeing Ferrari pit and not have tires anywhere... I mean, just so totally on-brand for them.

One of these days, I look forward to going to a Ferrari dealership where there is an abundance of red paint and sweet-sounding engines ... and missing tires.

At least the rain and the tire guessing game made the Dutch Grand Prix a little more fun.

I hear you. Some complain about a team dominating, and most of us get it.

Thing is, the Frances would have a team's car disassembled down to the hood clips and not allow such a thing to happen.

Can't have it both ways. I'll take the FIA's "hey, you figured it out better than the others, so enjoy" mindset. Not fractionally as controlling.

Crazy, stupidly fun IndyCar finale at Laguna Seca, won by Scott Dixon. A zillion cautions with car parts flying everywhere. They had to add gas to the pace cars because it made more laps than the winner.

Base it off of last year, like NASCAR does (or used to do) with The Clash?

Dixon is uncanny how he saves fuel. Only Fred Flintstone got better mileage.

It seems odd to me that IndyCar is ending its season, and September isn't even halfway over.
Is that an admission that nobody watches the series?

It's ended the weekend after Labor Day more seasons than not the last 25 years. There have been a few seasons they've gone into October, which is when IndyCar seasons ended even at the height of its popularity in the 80s, but they also started a little later back then.

I think ultimately it is an acknowledgement that football sucks up all the attention once it is in full swing. Certainly IndyCar viewership has dropped off in past seasons when they've gone later into the fall.

Personally, I like the length and compactness of the current format. I remember in the IRL days where they had a couple of years where they ran 10 races from January to October and it was really easy as a casual fan to forget it was even happening.

There have been persistent rumors of adding one or two overseas races next year as exhibitions. Seems like if it happens, it'll most likely be in October because they won't want a big travel layoff mid-season.

If I am understanding the article correctly, it's really a Pro-Am that they are trying to avoid calling a Pro-Am.

I guess it's just the way my mind works because October is the best time of year to be outside doing things weather wise. I totally agree that football takes over, but they are missing out on the fall.

    RIP Bristol dirt race

Going back to just a regular old Food City 500 next spring.
