Also, I'm close enough to certain that I'd bet folding money that picture was taken at Bristol.

Just looked it up. The kid who was killed was named Wayne Dye.
Why I had it solidly in my mind it was Petty's cousin and even had a completely different name, I have no idea.

Are you thinking of Randy Owens at Talladega?

Yeah. That's it. I knew there some connection to that name and Petty.

Felipe Massa is going to court to try to be declared the 2008 F1 champion.
Even if that was possible, it was 15 years ago. Uhhhhh, no.

Maybe with the NCAA. The FIA? Not bloody likely.

You toss the three seven-times in Cale Yarborough’s 1978 championship winning Cup car. In their primes. Petty and Earnhardt ran that season, so JJ would be at a disadvantage to start out b/c of the car. He would catch up, though.

Simulate the 31/whatever-it-was-race schedule. 11 worst finishes are dropped from the points, partly as a concession for JJ learning the car early. All races in the final 10 get you double points, so it’s not a full-fledged Chase but you have some of that flavor.

    Who wins the title? Why?

    Earnhardt, no question.
He could flat out drive and had the heart and balls to win any time he was behind the wheel.
The other two were talented, but much of Petty's success comes down to factory backing when his competitors didn't have it, and Johnson's success was winning the Chase, not true championships.

Apparently Sage Steele was hanging around the garage today. She’s leaning into the whole right-wing thing since she canceled herself.

Edit: Yup, just see her Twitter feed.
