    I've always had good luck with the cast iron skillet recipe from Craig Claiborne's Southern Cooking.

    The secret's in the buttermilk float right before it goes in the oven.

    I also lace it with honey.

    And, I doubt people are really using airport food as the basis of any complaints about the economy, anyway. Everything in airports is overpriced, just as a general rule. Captive audience, last chance, and all that...

    Anytime David Brooks wants to visit the ER, I'd happily view his bill as an indictment on the economy.

    The Brooks thing reminds me a lot of Dr. Oz’s “shopping trip” for “crudite” in which he made it clear he’s never been grocery shopping before.

    Try Martha White self rising cornmeal, using the directions on the package. That goes a long way all by itself.

    The Trader Joe’s cornbread mix, when of course cooked in a Lodge cast iron pan, is exquisite.
