It will be 2038 and I’ll still be afraid Miguel Cabrera is lurking in the on-deck circle ready to torture Cleveland pitching.

In the Mets news I know everyone is craving, they might really have a future all-star catcher. Francisco Alvarez has been very good defensively and hit his 25th home run tonight.

As a catcher, only Bench had more at age 21 or younger with 26.

The position has been a black hole for the Mets since Piazza.

You really learn your organization has no plans for you long term when you get thrown out there to finish a game after being eliminated mid-game. Jameson Taillon is learning that tonight.

That difference is not necessarily the result of the runner being likely to run. The pitcher is in the stretch, the alignment is different, a pitcher with a runner on first is not as good as a pitcher without.

After running out of gas against the Rangers, the Mariners are officially eliminated as Verlander and the Astros shut out the D-Backs.

Houston could move from wild card to AL West champ if the Astros win and Seattle beats Texas on Sunday. I’m sure the Mariners will pull out all the stops to beat the Rangers …

They're going to have to pitch him, unless they want to run Bradish out there on three days rest, which is not ideal.
    Saturday -- Bradish
    Sunday -- Rodriguez
    Tuesday -- Means
    Wednesday -- Gibson
    Friday -- Bradish

“Second team to ever beat every other MLB in a season.”

How many years have teams played every single team in MLB in one season? Two? Three?

Those other stats seem cool, but that one particular one seems nutty.

Kremer or Flaherty would make me even more nervous than Gibson. Not that it's going to happen, but frankly, I'd be more comfortable with Wells making a Game 4 start.
