As a whole? Probably not. Do I think that there are writers, editors, and members of the editorial board who are Republican enough to overlook the party's excesses and provide cover and indeed support for Trump? Sure.

 

Why is he doing it? If only there was a reason.

 

The NYT is not unique among political reporters in that their editorial policy is uniquely unsuited for this era. The problem is that calling someone who lies a liar is both a statement of fact and a value judgement. Calling someone who has betrayed their country or their comrades a traitor is both a statement of fact and a value judgement. The most valuable and detrimental part of Trump's media strategy is how it discredits traditional gatekeepers by either accusing them of bias or striking while those gatekeepers equivocate in a desperate attempt to avoid making a value judgement. However, going great guns at them doesn't do much better, as it only confirms MAGA priors about biased elites.

 

Much like the Roman Empire in its last days, the GQP is all about bread (as in money, nor Wonder) and circuses.

Gaetz is going all in, I would think. If he doesn’t even come close, I would love to see something legally done against him.

He’s so concerned about government spending, but does he have a plan to cut the military or freeze its spending? What about freezing senior citizen benefits?

And, of course, this shitshow is costing us taxpayer dollars because paid employees are dealing with this rather than doing what they should be doing.
