They did. Not disputing that. But there was incentive to play well enough to keep up with the Dodgers and Braves and they didn't.

Sure, there’s incentive. Just not capability,

When you have 19k for a playoff game, your sport has a problem.

Every ratings/attendance story I've read this year said it's been MLB's best season in a while. So, huge problem, apparently.

The attendance for one of baseball's most famous playoff games, Bobby Thomson's shot heard round the world, was something like 23,000.

Who else knew that Nate McLouth was once a National League All-Star?

The Orioles derailed the White Sox “Winning Ugly” team in the ALCS that year.

Cubs fans rubbed it in, not realizing what was in store for their team in the playoffs next year …

I just know that all seven Tampa Bay fans have to be sad pandas today.

I've stayed away from much of baseball these last couple weeks, thanks to the Cubs collapse this year. Utterly painful. I knew I'd come around after some time for the playoffs, and that time has been the last two days. And it's those Minnesota crowds and wins that helped, and, I have to say, those Philly crowds in night games when they get a big hit or out? Seems like one helluva party.

Phillies/Braves has a chance to be wild as hell. Also rooting for the Orioles to make a deep run.

Also, I need a ruling. Am I a dipshit to really like Minny's "Twin Cities" uniforms?

The Barry Bonds Pirates didn't sell out some playoff games.
