Funny, I've never thought of it as a Livin' On A Prayer rip, I've always heard it as Springsteen extra extra extra lite. And you're right, if CanCon didn't exist nobody would have ever heard this crap.

I suppose I've softened a little bit on her over the years, but in college, I hated all the Alanis singles with the power of a thousand suns but always loved "Hand In My Pocket." A perfect summation of near-adulthood. And as it turns out, well beyond!

Mostly in terms of the lyrics more so than the sound.

I suspect the Boss is BB’s number one influence.

By all accounts a good guy, but that song drives me nuts.

    Alanis was strong.

I hate Alanis but “Uninvited” is a great tune.

Uninvited is a great fucking song and one you never hear on the radio.

As I posted a few pages ago, I generally consider everything ever excreted by Loverboy to be nothing but steaming buckets of festering fecal fudge.

But their debut single, "The Kid Is Hot Tonite," was actually OK, I thought. Most groups, when their debut single hits it big, are confronted with the challenge of not just rehashing it, but shit, if it was good enough for the Kinks, it should be good enough for fuckin' Loverboy.

I will not stand by and let you disparage Loverboy like they're a bunch of shitty hot dogs at the Notre Dame press box, Star! :D

Loverboy is the rock version of a mid-rotation starter: Limited, but maximizes what it has. Once in a while, it'll throw a gem. Usually it'll keep you in games. But when the stuff goes, hoo boy. Loverboy's stuff is fine...some really good singles, some that were meh and some album cuts that were, well, album cuts. But I wish someone told these guys whose most skilled musician was already pushing 40 when they formed that naming yourself Loverboy would be bad for the band once the guys started losing their hair and their metabolism slowed to a crawl.

I'm sure at some point I've said this before on SJ (who hasn't?), but I dislike pretty much every No Doubt hit and what their image was in the moment (which is whatever was trendy musically and style-wise in the last half of the 90s/first half of the 2000s). Gwen Stefani gets on my last nerve.

And yet? "Hella Good" is a fucking great song.

Who the eff's talking shit about Loverboy?

And you can say this song has become cliché but not a single one of you is changing the station when it comes on the radio or Sirius.

What's next, someone gonna say Sinatra's voice is tinny?

“Turn Me Loose” and “When It’s Over” are objectively great medium-rock songs. “Working for the Weekend” is in fact a station-switcher for me.

I remember your treatise on the Hella Good Exception.
