UKMET model still stubbornly keeps Philippe churning west-northwest. The others have it turning well east of Bermuda.

Now there is another one churning right up Philippe's tailpipe.

We are into October, usually the safe harbor time for the east coast in terms of major storms. I feel pretty good about things. There is a system brewing off Africa right now, but I can flat out tell you, the Atlantic is not warm.
    Thank you El Nino.

Well, there have been some pretty nasty October storms, so I usually don't feel relaxed until the Halloween candy is gone.

True, and my straight up refuge story happened this very weekend.
I'm just basing my optimism on current systems and the temp of the ocean when I waded into it this afternoon.

Cautiously optimistic. This was over my house in 2005. Oct. 24, 2005. Came from the Gulf.

That's why I always distinguish between Gulf and Atlantic hurricanes.

With all due respect to all my Gulf Coast brethren, as long as anything major deflects away from Onslow Bay for the next three decades, I'm happy.
I honestly hope a Cat 5 hits my spot directly on Sept. 27, 2071, and I'm there to greet it with a beer in one hand and shaking my fist with the other.

The season just isn't giving up. As long as they stay fish storms, oh well.
