I was watching a comedy show from Detroit. The performer said that Middle Eastern immigrants had taken over the liquor stores in the area. He said that in Detroit when you go into a liquor store you don't ask for Budweiser, the King of Beers. Instead you ask for Budweiser, the Ayatollah of Alcohol.

Seriously, I read that there is a suburb in Detroit that now has a majority Muslim city council.

 

I have thought the same thing, but I don't think it's true. The Portuguese came to New England a long time ago and there areas with big Brazilian populations that aren't historically Portuguese.

 

Some city in LA county is the second largest Armenian city. Watertown, MA used to be close.

 

Fresno and Glendale are hugely Armenian.

Cut taxes on the 1%, amirite?

 

Northern Virginia has one of the largest Afghani populations in the country. I actually didn’t know that until the refugee crisis a few years ago and volunteering at the local college campuses where they were sheltered. I kept wondering how and why all of them ended up here.

 

Probably Dearborn. Lots of folks with Lebanese ancestry.
