Back in the late '80s, Austin radio station B-93 played a killer rotation each Friday at 5 p.m. I lived far enough away that I could sometimes pick it up in my car if I drove toward Austin a few miles, and the show always started with "Working for the Weekend," so while it's not the greatest song ever, it brings back memories of when radio was worth listening to.

I should note, before anybody accuses me of musical snobbery, I paid cash money to see a triple bill of Loverboy, Pat Benatar and Journey … in 2016.

Damn, she didn't sing Johnny Cash songs when I saw her in 1981.

When I was working for one newspaper, I had Wednesday and Thursday nights off, meaning that Friday night was essentially my Monday. I’d drive in to work and inevitably around 4:30-4:45, some radio station would play “Working For The Weekend.”

I’d get depressed as hell, especially during the latter half of my time at the paper with the layoffs and cutbacks. It’s a miracle I’m still sane.

I liked Fleetwood Mac when Bob Welch was in the band -- a period that's mostly ignored today.

Nice to see the mighty Loveryboy defended by so many. Their music is exactly as (I think it was Starman) described it. But it's fun. That's worth something. ... And yes, naming the band Loverboy was the career-killing Rock Me Tonite video of band names.

    PRANCE, MOTHERFUCKERS!

Seven pages and not one mention of MacArthur Park? You people are too soft. Every time that song comes on I want to take a hammer and beat the car radio into submission.

96 Rock in Atlanta had a similar thing in the '80s at 5 p.m., a bunch of "quittin' time" clips from tv/movies/whatever flowing into "Gimme Some Lovin" by the Spencer Davis Group. To this day when I hear the intro to that song I'm taken back to high school, sitting in traffic.

The song “Future Games” and the entire Bare Trees album are both great records from the Bob Welch era.

I'm a fan of "Mystery to Me." I remember trying unsuccessfully to fit it all on a 45-minute cassette.

Same here. That song got old fast.

But I'm always good with this one ...
