Jordan's problem is that he used his sticks, they didn't work, and he has no carrots to distribute. One of Pelosi's secret strengths was that she was an awesome fundraiser for her fellow Democrats (McCarthy was a pretty good one for Republicans). Jordan has been an abysmal fundraiser in his career. Also, all committee chairs, whip jobs, etc. have already been doled out by McCarthy last winter.

That pisses me off so much. I love the Buffalo River. It should remain as pristine as it can be.

All good points. It’s infuriating that fundraising and backroom deals are the reason Jordan might not get the gavel, and not the fact he was a major player in trying to overthrow the government. The whole trumplican party is disgusting.

Read an interesting analysis that the GOP has done this to themselves. The rise of the Tea Party really altered the DNA of the GOP and removed some of the "grease" House leaders used on both sides when things get sticky - like chairmanships, appropriations for their district (earmarks) etc. This goes all the way back to Cantor losing in a primary and probably is rooted in legislators kowtowing to conservative media. Whatever you thought of Limbaugh, he knew the primary job was to win - so many more conservative media types with differing ideas about ideological purity today.
Most of the times this GOP revolutions are through the primary system, a bunch of incumbents lose to more conservative challengers backed by conservative talkers - but at least there is some cohesion. This fight now is like the Limbaugh GOP vs. the Hannity GOP vs. the NewsmaxOANBreithbart GOP.

Remember when there was outrage that Jordan and Scalise planned to do a townhall or something with Bret Baier and GOPers said that members should decide the Speaker "in-house" and not involve the media. hahahahaha. These guys can't get to a mike fast enough.

Isn't McHenry on the batshit right? I see people who call for giving him expanded powers temporarily.

They've done it to themselves through being so successful at gerrymandering. With computer analysis they were able to pick their best electorate. Now the primary is the de facto election in those districts, and the extremist Trumpists are selecting for ideological purity.
