I believe this is the first time the Phillies have faced a multi-run deficit in the playoffs so far.

Merrill Kelly ... has there ever been a pitcher who never got out of the minors before leaving for the KBO, spent three full seasons there, and returned to never leave the majors (except for one rehab inning in '21)?

Something had to click across the ocean.

    Great question. Small club.

The 84-win Arizona Diamondbacks are making the Phillies worry.

I have a feeling Michael Lorenzen or Taijuan Walker are going to have to come up big.

But frankly, Arizona's going to have the same issue. Kelly's at 62 pitches in the third.

Speaking of ... at the moment the three teams that are one win away from the Series had identical 90-72 records in the regular season.

And they’re giving us some good stuff in this round.

Would love to see the Astros get booted. Very skeptical the corpse of Max Scherzer can do the job.

I would regard the appearance of Michael Lorenzen as the equivalent, of "see you here tomorrow for an exciting Game 7, fans."

I understand the circumstances, but it's still pretty notable that Thomson can call upon a 2023 All-Star for long relief.

That's the thing about "All-Star", most of the time it means great 1st half or you're a fan favorite and not necessarily you're one of the studs come October. Alex Cobb was an All-Star in 2023, not sure anyone wants to see him on the mound today.

Or you're the only representative from a team heading for 100-plus losses.
