Guessing Dusty would have stayed if the Astros really, really wanted him to - like more than a one year deal. Was also surprised the Giants seemed to let Bochy "retire" without much of a fight.

 

I'll defer to those with a greater knowledge of the Nats, but how close is Darren Baker to making the show?

 

To say nothing of the fact that if you count Bochy and Francona as eventual selections, the seven guys behind him will be in also

 

The Subway Series in 2000 was the lowest-rated World Series of all-time to that point (now of course it'd be bonkers ratings). People said they weren't watching b/c they were sick of seeing New York teams there. Now they won't watch b/c they've never heard of teams in Texas or Arizona. As you noted, baseball fans will watch and non-baseball fans will come up with a reason why they're not watching. The latter is just amplified b/c everything is ZOMG NFL ZOMG

 

I think part of that was Bochy being worn out physically. He had a couple heart issues at the back end of his Giants tenure. But it was mostly Bochy reading the room & exiting on his own b/c he knew super genius Farhan Zaidi would want to hire someone with whom he could "collaborate" LOL just kidding, he wanted to find someone who would do what he told him to do. And that ain't Bochy. Worked out well for the Giants!

I understand Melvin wanted a deal as long as Farhan's. So both are signed through 2026. But we need to see mire than the likes of A.J. Pollock in the lineup. And all the prospects they've been promising have to produce.
