My guess is that the main source of discontent is the price of the most basic economic item of them all -- money. For a decade, debt was very cheap. Now it is significantly more expensive. This has a major impact on big-ticket purchases, almost none of which are purchased cash on the barrelhead. If people can't afford to borrow for the nicer house they want, they're unhappy. And it makes them think everything is more expensive, even things that aren't and that they're buying with both hands.

This makes sense. And plays into the larger lack of awareness we've developed as a country.

DA needs to say "Fine. Deal's off. See you in court."

Nice word "extort", way to throw that out there. Get everyone riled up...

    Now prove it:

    who?
    what?
    where?
    when?
    why?
    Come on, we're waiting.... (silence)

Really hard to work together and move forward when most of a political party lives in a news silo, won't accept reality and worships a treasonous criminal con man as its leader.

Actually, her first visit to her probation officer will be very interesting. They take zero shit like that. The first question mine asked me was, "Do you understand exactly what you did to wind up in my office? Because if there's any confusion, I will explain everything you're going to do over the next four years in very simple terms. And if you don't do exactly as it's spelled out, you're going to find yourself back in front of the judge."

    Politicians actually having to govern?

I'm always reminded of the great line from the musical, 1776: "I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace, that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a CONGRESS!"

You see, we piddle, twiddle, and resolve
Not one damn thing do we solve
    Piddle, twiddle, and resolve
    Nothing's ever solved in
    Foul, fetid, fuming, foggy, filthy
    Philadephia!

That sounds like something Will Rogers or Mark Twain would've said.
