Dunno. I'm just bullshitting my opinion like everyone else does. :)

I think that disconnect was really laid bare by the series finale. Every bit character from the series returned to testify about what horrible, thoughtless people the main characters were... and the audience HATED it. I guess they all wanted Jerry and Elaine to get married and they could all have a group hug.

The Mario movie was a perfect example of this. It hit every major touch point in the game’s history for the grownups and was a breezy, enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half for the kids. Its audience score was 95 percent.

And a lot of critics hated it.

Friends to me just wasn’t funny. I understand it was comfort food for many with a good looking cast, but it just boggled my mind that it became a phenomenon. For me not particularly well written or acted.

That's what the Larry Sanders Show was for.

I've tried Two Broke Girls, possibly b/c both of them are smoking hot. But yeah, I never got it. Just sort of crude and meh. Should have just gotten one of them a daughter and dubbed it Two And A Half Girls.

PCLL is right, Friends was envisioned as a spinoff of Singles, which didn't do that great at the theatre but was really popular w/Gen X and thus envisioned as an avenue to our teenaged and 20-something wallets. I both loved Singles and thought it was sort of mediocre and cliched. I expected more after spending most of my high school years inhaling "Fast Times At Ridgemont High." In retrospect, it was pretty much a TV show as a movie.

I guess by the time "Friends" came out? I didn't give a shit about anything that was supposed to speak for my generation.

Which means I'm the most Gen X person of all.

Singles was the first movie I saw as a college student, so it has a special place. Haven’t seen it in decades.

I did hear it broke big in Belgium…

Love “Singles.” I used to have a Citizen Dick t shirt I got in Seattle. It had a song list on the back. Best one was “Bust of the Boz.”

I remember listening to *a lot* of Paul Westerberg when Singles came out.
