    The theory is that anything that keeps the House off the network and especially local news is good for incumbents, so ending the Speaker choice fiasco was good for them. That theory posits most voters pay little attention to Congress only to say, "it sucks" when asked and then vote to re-elect their own Representative. That the new Speaker has the amazingly forgettable name of Mike Johnson is also a plus.
    Could be right. On the other hand, yesterday my regular golf partners, who are very much not politically minded, used a pause on the 9th tee to note that Johnson was clearly a lunatic.
