Hamlin is starting to be the Brooklyn Dodgers of the current NASCAR era. Another "wait until next year" finish at Martinsville, which means he has the same number of Cup titles as I do.

The disaster at Phoenix in 2010 when he was dominating the race and could have put Jimmie Johnson away with a win, is the one that truly stands out to me. Even though he still had the points lead heading into Homestead, he was mentally beaten when he had to pit late for fuel in that Phoenix race and couldn't recover from going a lap down.

Longshot, but I’m going to have to sell my tickets to the Las Vegas Grand Prix in a couple weeks, so thought I’d post here to see if anyone is interested. My wife is in treatment for cancer, so we won’t be able to go. Fuck cancer, indeed.

Anyway, I have two 4-day passes near the start/finish line, section PG1116, row 21, seats 3 and 4. Food and beverage is included, as is access to the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday.

Face value is $5,630 for the pair, but I’ll take an even $5k, to save the buyer the cost of fees.

    DM me if interested.

    1. As a two-time cancer survivor, give my best thoughts to your wife.
    2. I hate you can't go, especially with what sounds like a tremendous view and package deal.

And here I am, wondering if I'm getting a good deal for $125 a seat on the front stretch at the 500 in May.

I'd say yes, especially if you're in the shade.

About lap 125, at least based on last year. It's Row E in A Stand, so pretty dang close to the track. But we got to boo Danica Patrick and Mike Tirico while they taped their pre-race spiel. And you can hear the singing of "Back Home In Indiana" without the PA system.

I’ve never been to a race, so I don’t know how the prices compare, but it sounds like Vegas is quite a bit higher than most. I justified it to my wife because it’s the first race there, I’ve never been to Vegas and it’s similar cost-wise to getting great seats to a weekend series at Yankee Stadium, instead of just one game. We had a great hotel, great restaurant reservations, etc. Definitely planned for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We may go next year (and hopefully it’s cheaper), but going to the first race in Vegas had a huge allure to me. Definitely bumming about missing out, but the bigger picture is that they caught her cancer early, it’s treatable and she’ll be ok when it’s all said and done.

Sorry to hear about your cancer. This is also my wife’s second cancer — oddly, two different cancers, not a recurrence of the same one. One thing we have learned is that even with early detection and a relatively good prognosis, you still have to Andy Dufresne this thing and go through a sewer pipe full of shit before coming out clean on the other side. I’m sure you had to deal with a lot of hard shit too, and hopefully you came through it OK.

All the best to you and the wife, @bigpern23 . Are tickets bringing decent coin on the resale sites?

Thanks. I see them listed for quite a bit more than I’m asking, but I don’t know if they’re selling. I listed them for the minimum price on the F1 resale site. Going to try listing on SeatGeek today.

    1) Keep Pounding to your wife
    2) I want to go to an F1 race someday. But that's more than I'm willing to spend ... and I'm a party of one. Not likely to change ever again.

    Ryan Blaney. Wow.

Been a favorite of mine for a while. Never thought he'd be a champion.
