The Israelis knew it too, I am certain. That does not absolve anyone on any side you look at.

 

I sure am glad that Jared Kushner brought peace to the Middle East.

 

Of course they know. They've blockaded the city. After while a deal will be struck to get the civilians evacuated. Hamas likes having the civilians as cover, but sooner or later they'll start running short of food or medicine and decide to push out the useless mouths. Then they'll use a combination of bombing and going in after them. They'll blow up and collapse the tunnels. They'll get a lot of the terrorists dead.

It won't solve anything, but there will be far fewer Hamas cadre left.

 

To Israel's "credit," they have reportedly been bombing around the periphery of the hospital and not dropping 2,000-pound payloads into the heart of the NICU.

Maybe it is just rhetoric, but it certainly feels like Israel isn't going to allow this to be a situation where everyone goes back to their corners when this is done.

 

The hardest part of an invasion like this is getting out. Look at Afghanistan. It is nicknamed "the place where empires go to die" for a reason.
