Frustrations Mount at Washington Post as Its Business Struggles

That's not his responsibility. Just because he can afford something you think he should do, doesn't mean he has to.

 

He owns the paper.

And helped make the bad decisions leading to these staff reductions.

Why shouldn't he chip in to help soften the blow?

 

What were those bad decisions?

 

Overexpansion; unrealitstic revenue goals; lack of transparency with staff.

 

When Trump is elected, revenues will rise again.

 

Because that is not how businesses operate.

Six, seven years ago, everyone there was worshipping Bezos because his finances gave them "runway" to make the turn. He famously floated Amazon through a number of losses, or at least lower-profit years.

Top result when I Googled "jeff bezos personal wealth" was $144.3 billion. Even if he spent $100 million a year on the Post, he'd be just fine for the rest of his life.

Those quotations suggest he was planning on making money after some years of losses. It hasn't happened, he has to cut back. He isn't obligated to run a charity, no matter how rich Bezos is

 

Amazon lost money for 20 years per its business plan.

Bezos has GOT this.
