Nope. I can't say that I never start the Youtube and browse something else written while he talks, maybe bip back over and rewind if I realize I'm missing something important.. I also tend to drop before he finishes once he's made his point, although sometimes it's worth going to the end.

My choice when he does something as informative to me as that is to link it or write it out in a post here. I don't want to pass his thoughts off as my own (although absolutely I drop a line or two into comments here sometimes) but writing a post that starts "Beau was talking about... and writing it out seems both lame and a waste of my time when the source is right there. I know some folks here don't care for him, so I try to be selective when I do.

Southern folks may talk slow, but don't necessarily think slowly or poorly. Also, he's talking to a pretty broad public and has to explain himself a bit more than is strictly necessary for the better informed in his audience.

I think it's interesting that the broader Arab diplomatic group left Iran standing alone and refused to arm and escalate the conflict. I also liked his comment that the reason that Iran needs to be pulled back into the international scene instead of isolated is to force modernization on the Mullahs. There is also the implication that if Iran is drawn into Palestine they are diverted from mischief among their Arab regional rivals. That's the same reasoning they use for keeping the Palestinians in refugee camps in Israel - it distracts and weakens Israeli dominance in the region.

I'm not going after him or Southerners in general, but he does talk slowly and with a lot of pauses.

I just find I would rather read what someone says than listening to them. Video loads slow and I can't skip around or skim to either get the gist of things or read in depth. There is nothing visual that adds anything to what he has to say.

I don't disagree. I'm a fast reader and prefer to get info that way myself. It's just that so far as I know Beau does not have a print arm. He's got two different Youtube channels running plus does a weekly supplemental on stuff he finds interesting but which he didn't touch on in his main channel. He does research, fact checking, and writes his scripts. He has five other people who handle various technical stuff involved - camera, editing, posting, handling mail, etc. He generally puts out four posts a day. Busy guy, and generally his quality is good across the board.

I'll send him a suggestion that he post his script or a transcription, but he makes money on the Youtube traffic, so that might not work for him. Then again, he might go for it as an extra information source. He does not do the usual schtick Youtubers do where they ask for follows and likes and he does not have anything behind a paywall or a Patreon, so he does not seem money driven.

He's also pretty scrupulous about not reacting before all the facts are in, citing his sources, and presenting things in a neutral manner. I hope he does make some money. He's doing good work and earning it.

On a smaller, self contained scale, sorta. No network show. No standup. I don't know of his doing speaking engagements, let alone stand-up. I've seen him interviewed on other channels and in print. He does some public service stuff that pleases him, like annually talking about hurricane preparedness. When the coal miners in Alabama had a strike going that went for over a year, he did a toy drive on the channel and delivered them to the stikers so their kids would have a better Christmas. After a couple of hurricanes in Florida he used donations to buy a bunch of various supplies, and made up packages to give away with buckets, cleaning supplies, the sort of stuff that gets used up and hard to find. He bought a bunch of chainsaws and gave most of them away. He and a couple of buddies went down and used chainsaws to help clear things early on. He took time away from the channel and volunteered, just went down and did what he could to help.

In general he seems happy with his current reach. I don't think he really wants to give up the control he has over content and production in exchange for a network show and that sort of success.

I think a 1-2 sentence summary with the Beau videos might make for a better board experience. I seldom have time to go down those rabbit holes.

Never understood the "bomb the hospital first, then rush in" bit. Seems the best course of action would have been to secure the hospital building *first* and *then* go after Hamas underneath. I'm sure there's a lot of misinformation involved in the undertaking, but what do I know? I would've pissed myself at the sight of a drill sergeant, so general is out of the question.

First, yes, no doubt many have been killed in bombardment. Second, I'm not sure you're aware of the kind of technology the IDF has at its disposal and the level of training its special-ops forces undergo to minimize deaths in action (or the strategies they're using). This isn't Gettysburg or the Charge of the Light Brigade. Third, most of Hamas's high ranking leaders aren't actually in Gaza. They're living in luxury in Qatar and elsewhere off of wealth that could have been used to turn Gaza itself into a showplace after Israel withdrew in 2005 (remember -- Israel was not actually occupying Gaza as of 10/7 and there was a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas at the time). I can't speak for the specific Hamas leaders traveling to Cairo but if they're at that level, they're almost certainly not traveling there from Gaza. These fuckbags probably haven't seen Gaza in years and they like it that way.
