Seems the Russians are hellbent on taking this little town and are pouring men and materiel into the battle. The Ukrainians are being pressed by sheer weight of volume, but are killing incredible amounts of Russian men and destroying lots of their stuff. Rough estimates are that the Russians have lost upwards of 5,000 men there in the past couple of weeks. Their main objective seems to be, appropriately, a waste pile of mining debris that provides some high ground but is also easily targeted by drones and artillery.
Yet another World War I style battle where lives are spent cheaply for little to no gain.
