Urban made Gruden II look like John Madden. Gruden would still be there if it wasn’t for the e-mails leaked by someone (Snyder?).

Yeah, but the way it ended and with so much money and so many years left on the deal supersedes Meyer's one-and-done debacle (though if you want to argue Meyer was worse, I'm fine with that too).

I'm not sure Gruden would have still been there if the team still hadn't reached the playoffs - I have to think Davis would have at least taken his GM duties away and hired a real GM to oversee the draft.

If Gruden never got fired he would still have five years and $50 million on his contract as of today.

He'd almost assuredly still be there.

Really? Davis canned McDaniels with $40m left on the deal - you think he'd have had a problem pushing Gruden out after a 22-31 record? No playoff appearances? At minimum, Davis would have taken out Mayock - moving on from Mayok and Bisaccia after a playoff appearance isn't really much of an endorsement of what Gruden built.

You think Davis made the Gruden call on his own? Buy my crumbling bridge, please.

If the NFL had nothing to do with it, you would’ve seen him pop up on some TV network last year.

Gruden was at least popular w/Raiders fans from his first successful stint as HC and had a Super Bowl win on his resume. Baby douche McDaniels lacked any of those intangibles. Gruden would definitely still be there if his everything -isms and -phobias weren't revealed by Danny Boy Snyder.

Obviously the e-mails prompted the firing. And if he did lead the team to the playoffs that season, sure. He's still there. I just don't think a three or four year run without the playoffs would make him still a lock to be there - whatever the contract. The funny thing is - in a lot of ways I see McDaniels as Gruden 2.0. I imagine Gruden - if they missed the playoffs that year he was canned, may have moved on from Carr to buy him more time, draft a QB etc. I just don't think his performance the second time around was that great. The defense was terrible.

Delaware is deeply unhappy with what the CAA has become, which is a bloated monstrosity. I think Delaware views JMU as more of a peer than it does Towson, so to speak. They've been toying with the FBS move for awhile. I wonder if they're trying to get in before the price of movement goes way up. Not exactly sure how that works.

When was the last time a school moved from FBS to FCS?
