Looks like turkey is $1.99/lb at Giant Eagle. Butterballs are $2.99/lb.

This douchebag went to a high-end butcher. No wonder he's paying $5/lb.

On a kind of related note... turkey sucks anyway. We bucked the Thanksgiving societal food norms a few years ago.

Last year we did Thanksgiving tacos. This year it's gonna be chili.

Smoked turkey is fucking delicious. My father-in-law also makes a delicious deep-fried version. He cooks it toward the end of the driveway to avoid burning anything down but a little grass if something goes awry.

    No shit, Sherlock.

I will give Wisconsin dairy farmers some credit. They're running family operations, the kids are out there doing heavy lifting along with their immigrant workers. I recall watching a documentary a while back where one of the farmers went down to Central America to see the housing that was being built with the wages he pays.
But yeah, he knows where they're from, and isn't asking any questions about green cards.

Give me dressing and pecan pie and I’m fine for Thanksgiving.

Agree on smoked turkey being better. Never had it for Thanksgiving, or deep-fried. But to me a deep-fried shoe would probably be tasty.

I've long wanted to try one of those "heritage"/"heirloom" turkeys, but: 1) they're expensive as shit; and 2) you've gotta order waaaaay early and I never can remember to put an order in.

We're actually not doing turkey. Spiral-cut ham.
