I missed all the changing qualifiers. I don't understand the limit to first round. A cheap QB is a cheap QB. Teams get the same benefit regardless of the round the QB was drafted.

Goff was on a rookie deal.

doesn't even have to be a cap on the position -- make it like the NBA with Bird Rights except its just for QBs. You draft a guy or sign an undrafted rookie free agent and he never counts against your cap beyond their initial contract.

The qualifiers are imperfect, but I just wanted to point out (inaccurately, since I forgot Goff played in The Worst Super Bowl Ever) that most teams that spend a first-round pick on a potential franchise quarterback piss away his early years even when he's competent.

I think your entire existence on sj.com was captured in that one tortured stat.

Pittsburgh's offense does look more lively today. And Kenny Pickett, amazingly, looks like a workable NFL quarterback today.

And ... yeah, I'm going there ... I'm watching the Panthers, and that's not the most disappointing thing I see.

It's throwing the feed back to Charissa Thompson. She was also talking to Sean Payton during the pregame show. I quickly changed the channel. Because her credibility is zero here.

Should have known better than to expect that network - of the biggies, anyway - to actually have standards.

Holy fuck is this a bleak window of games. Thus, here is a reminder that Tommy DeVito's family knows where Jimmy Hoffa is buried, because they buried him.

This is the weakest slate of 10:00 am games I can remember. Every team except Houston is garbage.
    Yet I'm still watching.

It's also so early in the season for such crap. Seems like these are the sort of games we get during weeks 15-17 when mathematical elimination or playoff certainty have really taken root.
