THe 2023 FSU team isn't a bunch of fucking dogs (not saying you are suggesting that). Jared Verse is very likely the first pass rusher to go in the upcoming draft. Keon Coleman is a likely first-round pick at WR, the other wide receiver Johnny Wilson is probably a second-day/early third-day draft guy. And they have guys that are going to get drafted at DT, LB and RB. I would project right now they will have eight guys drafted this spring depending on if their other edge rusher, Patrick Payton, declares or not.

There's a pretty good football team in there.

All that being said I think of the Seminoles 18 straight wins, I think 11 of them have come against teams that were either playing a backup QB or had their starter severely compromised (example: Riley Leonard), so this Louisville game is really interesting because the Cardinals seem pretty healthy on offense and have an offensive coach that can scheme. Plus they have an NFL quality pass rusher going up against FSU's most questionable unit -- their offensive line.

Florida State wins and they should be in, period.
They will have earned it and, yes, they will have several players drafted.

But there is a precedent for a team winning big and dropping out of the final four in the final selection.
That exact scenario happened in 2014 when TCU entered the final weekend No. 3, crushed Iowa State 55-3 and ... fell to No. 6 in the final selection.

To see why, you have to revisit that 2014 Big Ten Championshop Game.
Wisconsin was 10-2 and No. 13 in the CFP, so they had no shot of getting into the playoff.
Ohio State was 11-1 and No. 5.

But, the Badgers were favored by almost 5 points in some lines.

The coaching pope, Urban Meyer, took no chances with a big lead and even up by 45 he left his starters in. He was playing for a playoff spot and could care less about sportsmanship.

The Big 12 had no conference championship game, so TCU and Baylor, which had edged TCU 61-58 earlier in the season, were left out.

Coach pope's rout worked on the selection committee and the rest is the Buckeyes' last national title.

I know it won't happen in a million years, but I really want Iowa to cause some serious-ass chaos on Saturday night.

I know their offense is a trainwreck, but they deserve credit for finding an unfashionable way to skin a cat to get to 10-2. The Big Ten West sucks, but grinding out games week-to-week ain't easy. They do it on the regular.

There’s really three ways Ferentz and son have been able to do it the past few years:

    1. Win the turnover battle.
    2. Shorten the game with ball control on offense.
    3. Big plays on special teams.

Last weekend the Hawkeyes relied heavily on No. 1 in a game the Cornhuskers should have won. Unfortunately Michigan probably won’t fumble three times and throw a last-minute pick like Nebraska did.

Let’s face it, Iowa has to have a perfect game, even from big bad Deacon Hill, and hope Michigan makes a lot mistakes for Saturday’s game to even be competitive.

But if it’s somehow close going into the fourth quarter … Iowa has nothing to lose.

All true. If Michigan's defense wasn't also stout, I'd give Iowa a puncher's chance, but they're going to have to create impactful turnovers to make Michigan sweat.

I feel like Iowa deserves its punch-line status, but at some point? They deserve some begrudging respect for dragging themselves to 10-2 despite it all. That some voters barely have them in the top 25 is a silly overreaction.

I would definitely love it if chaos happens and the selection committee has to make some tough calls.

Even chaos is going to feel like the same ol shit. Seven of the top 8 have already been in them playoff. Four of them have won national titles since 2010. The only oddball here is Texas.

Worst case scenario "chaos" leaves us with Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia and Oregon...Yay!

This entire thread is the reason I gave up on college football decades ago. What an asinine way to run a sport.

More asinine than an in-season "tournament" loudly confirming what everyone has known for decades -- that NBA regular season games are meaningless? LOL

Yeah, they'll make their decision, a team will get left out and be angry. The end.

It's not like there will be fights and commitee members throwing things.

The new system is already decided, so "chaos" won't prompt any kind of change.

I've enjoyed making fun of Iowa, as have most of us I think, but that defense is absolutely legit. I grew up on SEC football that looked exactly like this - run the ball, stop the run, defensive struggles, ball control. Lots of 7-3 and 10-7 games as a result. A defense that good deserves an offense that is at least ranked somewhere in the middle of the list.
