I guess people wouldn't be so upset if Bama didn't back into a conference title by beating a relative nobody while FSU boatraced a great Louisville team.

I'm not sure you can be confident the team that just lost to the Tide would easily win over the team that beat the Tide ... in Bama.

Florida State did hold Louisville to 25 points below their season average, and no touchdowns, in the conference title game.

The words "record, "nor "undefeated" appear in the selection committee's charter or process.

"Establish a selection committee that will be instructed to place an emphasis on winning conference championships, strength of schedule and head‐to‐head competition when comparing teams with similar records and pedigree (treat final determination like a tie‐breaker; apply specific guidelines)."

The reason I wonder is that I could easily see myself voting either way, and I don't think I'm all that unusual. It boils down to the committee's charge (or, rather, how individual members of the committee see its charge).

Why I would have voted for Bama over FSU: As currently constituted FSU is not one of the four best, not even close. One doesn't need to be an expert to come to that conclusion.

Why I would have voted for FSU over Bama: Per guidelines long promulgated, the process for finding the four best strongly points toward FSU over Bama.

Also: I'm glad I'm not on any committees anymore.

That's twice in the last three years (thinking of the RB not staying inbounds late).

Looks like committee members are into NIL money too.

This is where semantics enter the picture. Is "best" an educated guess or does best mean "teams with the best four seasons all told."

First: No one should be surprised by this. Every single one of ESPN’s talking heads were talking up Alabama before the B1G championship game to lay the groundwork for the committee.

Barring an upset in last night’s two conference championships, what was revealed today was set the moment the SEC championship ended.

Honestly, it wouldn’t have shocked me if the playoff pickin’ panel found a way to kick Washington out of the final four. Good thing Penix didn’t ding his throwing shoulder on that third down run Friday night!

Tell me you took the over last night without telling me you took the over….
