It was on the broadcast last night, so I don't know the answer to your question. I do think it is a good way to illustrate just how badly the Steelers fucked up their season in a span of just five days. Win both games and they are well on their way to a playoff spot. Win even one and they still have a great opportunity. Now, they are screwed and those poor performances indicate they won't have much luck as they face contenders the rest of the way.

Technology has given people the ability to find more and more obscure statistics, many of which are so specific they are rendered meaningless.

If you really dig into it, the sample size is probably to tiny to be statistically significant. That said, it is still a good shorthand for just how ugly those two losses are for the Steelers.

On a related topic, I also frequent a message board for Steelers fans. It went down with a server error right as the game ended last night and hasn't come back yet. I find that appropriate. I also wonder if the guy who owns it just said, "Fuck it" and pulled the plug. lol

The fact that they've lost back-to-back games against teams eight games under .500 is certainly significant as a sign of where the Steelers' season is headed.

The stat that this is the first time in NFL history that's happened is likely not at all significant, given that, as Batman pointed out, the number of opportunities for another team to do that is orobably vanishingly small.

I get the frustration but I say not develop a QB? We’re talking Pickett a 2nd not the 1 overall pick. The WRs are more to blame than Tomlin. The last 2 games are disheartening I agree.

Pickett was a first-rounder, though later in the round (20th overall). They have done a terrible job with him, which is concerning for any quarterback's long-term development with Tomlin. There is still a small chance he figures it out, but I doubt it. In addition to producing so little, the guy has been injured a lot in only two seasons. Of course, that part isn't Tomlin's fault, but they didn't give him a very good opportunity to succeed. This team ignored the offensive line for a long time and they are paying for it. The current unit isn't bad blocking for the run, but they break down far too often against stunts and blitzes. Mason Cole is a disaster at center. His shotgun snaps are errant far too often, which gives a young quarterback one more thing to worry about. Tomlin's loyalty to Canada also set them back. I wouldn't be surprised to see them want to give Pickett one more shot with a new offensive coordinator.

They are disheartening enough that I have given up on this team even making the playoffs, but that isn't the primary issue. I think they are a sign of a coach who has lost at least part of his team. Losing focus and blowing the game against the Cardinals was one thing, but that should have been a wake-up call. A good team would respond in its next game. Instead, they were lifeless from the start, only seeming to wake up when it was too late.

I might just to see how long it takes y'all to figure out which poster is me. The really odd thing about the board is that it is set to censor profanity. Fuckers.

I think you are vawstly overrating 'focus' - these are grown men, not amateur hour NCAAF.
Bad teams lose in the NFL because they have a talent problem, not because they lack focus.

Watch some of the childish pouting by Diontae Johnson and George Pickens and tell me again about them being grown men. Getting beat is about talent. Playing sloppy is about preparation and focus. The Steelers were not overmatched in talent the last two games, but they were sloppy as hell and it cost them their season.

And to have both games at home.
This is the classic case of a stat offered without context.
