Who is the New York Yankees single-season leader for starts in left field in the 1990s?

Good question. I can think of a few names, but none of them pop out as being there a long time.

The curve might be he played before the WS run.

    Chad Curtis?

No, not Curtis. He started 76 games in LF in 1998, his high with the 90s Yankees.

Mel Hall? I’m just going through the list of criminals that the 90s Yankees had in left field.

Yes, Mel Hall, 99 starts in 1992. Hard to believe a team as good as the Yankees were in the second half of the decade, and as bad as they were in the first half, did not have an everyday left fielder.

Luis Polonia was going to be my next guess.

Yeah, left field was their weak spot. They even had Knoblauch out there for a season because he couldn’t throw the ball from second base to first.

I love baseball trivia. Saw this the other day.

This world-championship team, rated by some (Rob Neyer, Eddie Epstein) as one of the top teams of all-time:

    * Did not have a regular hit higher than .293.
    * Had only one regular with 100 RBIs; the leading HR hitter had only 29.
    * Of 22 players with 20 or more at-bats, only 10 hit .214 or higher.
    * Only two players scored 80 or more runs.
    * The leading reliever had only 18 saves.
    * Only three starting pitchers won 8 or more games.

    Who is this team?

    ‘88 Dodgers?

That Dodgers team isn't highly regarded. Sounds like a Cardinals-type team. I'll guess 1964.

Given the hitting stats, I’d guess the ‘68 Tigers — Year of the Pitcher.
