That's the worst part of it.

The NFL is so damn generous with this rule ... so when it's actually called you can be assured the violation was flagrant.

MileHigh can correct me if I'm wrong, but the punch-back signal (this guy is not on the LOS) is only given for the most outside man in the formation.

And what did Reid say, he was an inch or two from it being legal? Fuck him all the way, too.

That entire organization can die in a fucking fire.

I don't know if they do it in the NFL, but in college on down, the line of scrimmage wings will punch back if their nearest guy is off the line. If both are punching back, it raises your attention to make sure you only have four in the backfield.

In this case, the line judge would have punched back and the linesman (now down judge in the NFL) would not. Still, that right tackle was way off but they haven't been calling that.

Even if Toney asked, which he didn't, they are not obligated to line them up. In high school, I tap my thigh and say this is the line. Little more leeway early in games at that level but if they keep doing it, it will get called. In high school, play is whistled dead at the snap, but it's live ball in college and the NFL.

Good line about the CFP, but they won two in a row, not three. They lost Browning's first start.

Heh. Florida State wouldn't have been eliminated, either . . . in a 14-team playoff.

That’s what kills me about modern football. The offensive line is more like a chevron these days on all but the most obvious run plays.

As offense evolved to more single/zero tight bases - and less gap/power run schemes - defenses countered with faster (instead of bigger and stronger) edge guys. That the NFL lets those tackles cheat is a quiet acknowledgement that geometry proves it would otherwise be impossible to stop those speed rushers.

That's what I thought from the beginning. Toney has been the main culprit in 2-3 losses this season and he also bring an inordinate amount of shit on himself by acting like a child.

I will say that Sunday he looked much more solemn knowing his fuck up costs the team a lead and potential victory.

I think Reid defended him today, because I assume strangling him would be frowned upon.
