OKC voted to extend a sales tax to build a $900M arena for the Thunder. The Thunder promises to stay in town until 2050.
OKC voters approve funding for new $900M downtown arena

In unrelated news, I promise to start cutting weight in January 2024.

The Metro stop is right where the old AMC movie theater was, behind the Potomac Yard shopping center. Where they are also building the VA Tech campus. They just expanded and built a bus lane in the center of Route 1, and there are a ton of new houses and apartments there to accommodate Amazon.

I really don’t see where there’s room for this, unless they tear down the shopping center.

They aren't going to move. It's just leverage to get some changes to Capital One and the surrounding area.

Even as a Warriors fanboi, I hope they give Draymond 20-25 game suspension. That might be enough for Dunleavy to trade Paul and Wiggins for Zach Collins. At the very least, it would force Kerr to play the kids who got 80 points last night.

The Warriors could be really sad to watch over the next four years.

They are stuck with Draymond until 2027, and it increasingly looks like something has just gone wrong with that dude. He was always prone to dumb shit and technicals but it has gotten significantly worse -- dumber and more violent.

Klay is playing like a guy who is done. (Fun fact: Draymond has a significantly higher 3-point percentage than Klay this season.) Klay is also in the last year of his contract.

I don't know what's up with Wiggins but he's not good at all right now.

The Warriors have done a really poor job of developing young players during their run.

They also still play like the team that could spend 48 minutes fuckin' around, being sloppy with the ball and not taking the game seriously. They used to do that and win easily. Now they are old and slow and they lose.

Curious to see if Steph goes down with the ship. He's still elite and under contract through 2026.

I don't know if Steph would want to go anywhere else unless Steve Kerr takes another coaching gig and Steph follows on a vet minimum.

But you're right, the draft and development of the Dubs has been so bad. I think everyone save maybe one person (excluding this year's draft) who has been drafted in I think the last 5 years is no longer on the team. Kuminga might be the only one left. The whole two timelines from last year was an epic disaster. Everyone thought the time between losing Kevin Durant and getting Klay back from injury was going to be a Godsend because of all the young guys who would get experience while the team was awful. Didn't happen. They got the championship in 2022, but that is looking like the last gasp of the big 3.

It is going to be so strange not seeing Klay next year. I can't imagine he's going to resign because he's not going to get the dollars from the Warriors.

Monumental Sports just sent this out ... this isn't a ploy to get money out of D.C. That ship has sailed, unless the Alexandria government says no... You don't put out this press release as a negotiating tactic. It's done.

I’m fed up with the sloppy play. Turnovers and stupid fouls plus Klay jacking up shots like he’s entitled to them. Steph’s greatness shows in how he’s having a great season yet doesn’t show anything when others are taking awful shots.

As for development, you can’t do that while chasing a title. Wiseman was an epic fail but at least they tried to get a big man. Kuminga Moody Podz are going to be good players.

We fans got FOUR championships, that’s enough for me.

Draymond is absolutely essential to everything which they do as a team. And he knows it. The problem is that, as good as Steph is, they aren’t good enough to win. Draymond still can be dominant in what he does, but he’s not at his peak anymore and Klay has fallen off of a cliff.

So it’ll be between the VA Tech campus and the new Metro stop. That campus must be way smaller than it looks — I run by there all the time and the construction site takes up that entire space by the Metro.

Looks like they are going to tear down that shopping center after all. One less Target — people will just have to visit one of the other 8,000 locations within five miles.
