The 30 for 30 on the 1997 Heisman competition came up on my DVR library.

There are so many little details that stick out. The ESPN talent are so young, there is a Sports Reporters clip with Albom and Lupica, Lee Corso said Ryan Leaf would be the better NFL prospect at the end of the year, there was a clip of a Michigan practice (talking about Woodson) with Brady waiting behind Brian Griese.

The episode starts with Peyton Manning announcing he will stay at Tennessee. Seems quaint now with transfers and NIL.

I think the funniest part of the episode was Lupica said Peyton made a mistake staying for his senior year because he missed the chance to be drafted by the Jets.

The talent in 1997 was amazing. Rickie Williams and Randy Moss are just two others.

Not only were three of the top 4 hall of famers and the guy who tied for 5th won it the next year, the who guys were eight and nine finished third and fourth in '98

Remember the Jets were being coached and run by Bill Parcells after the 1996 season, so it might not have been the death knell we think of today.

It's the Jets. They would have screwed it up.

It's a weird counterfactual. Does Parcells stick around? What happens to Belichick?

Another random thing in the 30 for 30. The QB for Penn State in the Michigan - PSU clip was Mike McQueary.

Texas hosts Georgia on US Grand Prix weekend next year. I’m sure it will work out just fine.

I can tell you this with 100% certainty.
I’m very much looking forward to this Saturday.
Since fb ended the Saturday after thanksgiving, my first bb game was 6 days later. Since then, I went Friday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Tuesday and tomorrow night.
I’ll be getting up early…..say 6:00 or so to have coffee with Mrs Chef. Then take the dogs to the dog park for a bit. I’ll grab a fresh case of beer on the way home after they get their breakfast…..(sausage biscuit from McDonalds)…..after that……it will be college basketball, college football and NFL football on 3 different screens in my basement for 12-13 hours.
Oh yeah. There will prolly be a couple of naps that take place in my chair too.

It would be crazy to think Belichick would have left with Manning in the fold only to luck into Brady.

I guess this hand gesture is a Houston thing? Seems kind of shocking.
