That is a quality rant right there.

Love the last line too, that's in the ABQ Journal story but not the video:

I watch the Sun Bowl every year on CBS just out of principle. Plus it usually looks pretty darned nice down there.

There’s the Sun Bowl on CBS and the Holiday Bowl on Fox. Are those the only non-ESPN bowls?

Those are the only three. Heck, the former Outback Bowl is the only one on ESPN2.

Having Cal vs. Texas Tech at 8:15 p.m. probably didn't help.
That bowl used to get some good crowds when it had an SEC tie-in. It obviously wasn't the most desirable bowl location, but it was an easy drive for the SEC West teams that played in it so it was a fun final fling with football. Plus it had a better date between Christmas and New Year's, when people were off work or out of school.
Looking at the attendance figures, it was a sellout or close to it every year except one when the SEC had its tie-in from 1995 to about 2009 — and the one was the famous "Snow Bowl" game between Mississippi State and Texas A&M in 2000, which still drew 37,000. They haven't cracked 40,000 since 2012, when it was Ohio vs. nearby Louisiana-Monroe.
FWIW, official attendance last night was 33,071, which seems wildly inflated based on that picture.

That looked to be taken during pre-game warm ups usually 45 m. before kick - but watched a bit of it. Not a lot of people.

The far end zone bleachers were salvaged from Tulane Stadium demolition in 1980.

    Hey Alanis!
An ACC crew is assigned to the national championship.
I don't know if any of them are Floridians.

The officials will have some new mechanics for Alabama touchdowns:
