It's a long season, and Beal is hurt again, but I wonder when it's time to start worrying about this Suns team. Currently 13-12 and the 10 seed in the West, total defensive mess. Just lost to both NYC teams at home, have lost six of their last eight. Something poetic about Beal getting hurt right before the Suns host the Wizards. Not like Wiz fans were accustomed to seeing him in anything but street clothes anyway...

Counterpoint: Chinatown was always a dump, but over the last two decades a bunch of tacky bars opened up around the arena that made the insufferable D.C. careerists feel more welcome.

Bottom line to me is they've still only played one game with the big 3 players and they've all been in and out of the lineup. They're really hard to judge.

If they can all be healthy I think they'll be fine -- but obviously that's a massive "if." Beal turned his ankle horrendously last night, so at least that's not another wear-and-tear back injury that makes you wonder if he's ever really returning.

They feel like one of those teams that could stumble in as a sixth seed and then be a terrifying matchup in the playoffs -- if they're healthy at the right time.

I read that thinking it was also a fix to have ESPN write a positive story about the banner. Probably not but that's the conspiracy theorist in me.

No the conspiracy theory is that Adam Silver was going to force whichever team won to raise a banner to make it look like people care

Yeah, that too. Would have been funny if the Pacers had won, given how the Colts hung a banner for an AFC South title.

One of my favorite things is listening to or reading season previews that are incredibly wrong.

Going back and listening to Pistons previews is going to be amazing. “I think they’ve got a solid young core!”
