BCS leagues expanding - yeah?

Not necessarily. Syracuse doesn't play baseball. I don't think Iowa State does, either. Oregon only revived its program in the past 20 years or so.

Right you don’t have to play every sport your conference offers (no Vanderbilt softball for example). And if you play something your home conference does not then you can go elsewhere (see Kentucky and South Carolina in the Sun Belt for men’s soccer). But that isn’t the case here. The WCC has a full baseball league already.

Oregon State and Washington State are going to play as independents.

OSU baseball has the fan support and financial wherewithal to survive for two years as an independent. Season tickets are about $500 apiece and they have a waiting list. Not sure how Wazzu can do it.

WCC is a good temporary landing spot for the other sports. Would have been fine for baseball, too, IMHO.

Surprised they didn't go all-in with baseball as well. Perhaps just kicking the tires?

The WCC hasn't had a public school as a full member since 1979 when the Nevada schools left, Nevada to the Big Sky and UNLV to what's now the Big West.

Baseball is "investigating" joining the WCC. It would be a decent landing spot, they generally have 2-3 very solid programs and the twins would give them a boost.

Gonzaga playing hoops will fill some Gill seats that stay empty for almost every game except the Civil War.

Who would you even play on weekends as an independent from mid-March on?

The Mountain has a 7-team baseball loop. Also would’ve been fine for baseball.

No, he's not. He's making wine with Tim Gleason and enjoying his Conn Smythe Award during his team's Stanley Cup run.

FSU has apparently called an emergency meeting, probably to watch Smokey and the Bandit on DVD again.

As @2muchcoffeeman noted, there's an odd number of baseball schools in the MW, so there's some D1 teams available. For example, San Jose State hosted Saint Louis last season in a series and later traveled to Texas.

Can’t wait to hear how the geniuses have solved the riddle of GOR and secured a spot in the SEC.
