It's behind a paywall, but basically BetMGM saw a lot of accounts being opened to bet on UNLV. The handle ends up being 35-40% higher than normal. UNLV wins in a blowout. MGM asks for an investigation, which finds nothing.

Is Matty Holt of US Integrity quoted in the piece? He’s the authority on watchdogging the games. I would trust anything he says.

I’m assuming this was heavy action on UNLV to cover? Perhaps the books just hung a bad number and got pummeled.

 

No quotes from him or anyone from the company.

The article stated the bets were for UNLV "to beat" New Mexico. It could be sloppy writing.

 

I don’t remember the ML or the spread but I imagine UNLV was a -700 to -900 favorite just to win.

According to Vegas Insider the spread was UNLV -15.5 and their moneyline was -550.
The line opened at 10.5 and got bet up.
Those aren't exactly numbers you drool over.

 

One of these nights I'll remember to bet this. Then again, I think the girlfriend might have murdered me if I had pulled out the phone to bet last night while we were out at a movie. Or called gamblers anonymous, one of the two.

 

“What’s better, babe? Watching a movie… or watching a movie and being able to buy you a new pair of stripper heels from the porn shop on the way home?”
