    The level of public discourse in this country has gone way beyond toxic. Way too many people turn their feelings about politicians into a silly "Red Sox vs. Yankees" rooting interest. The worst elements turn it into casual talk about "public hangings," and it is one of the sadder commentaries about where we are as a country.
