Next year wait a little longer if you like. I get the Post for $29, three times now.

Sub was up in 8 days. I hit the cancel button. I got an entire year for $9.99, plus a year of NYT Games. Sold!

Just a heads-up that when I just went to cancel, they tried getting me to renew at $1.66/month for "today only," except I'd already bought the $1 Black Friday deal under a different email. Ha ha suckas.

Do they have copy editors at The Athletic? How would a team score two touchdowns if not during game time? Can it score at halftime or during a timeout?

The Las Vegas Raiders pulled off two defensive touchdowns in seven seconds of game time in the second quarter to jump-start a 20-14 upset win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day at Arrowhead Stadium

I'm pretty sure the writer was differentiating between seven seconds elapsed on the game clock and seven seconds of real time. Probably not necessary to make that distinction, but I'm a copy editor and if I was reading that I likely wouldn't change anything.

Yeah I usually write game time (as opposed to real time) in those scenarios in football and hockey, thought it was common place

“Game time” is unnecessary. Defensive touchdowns by their nature are always a single play. Differentiating between “well these two defensive TDs took a cumulative 7 seconds instead of 13” doesn’t seem pertinent.

It’s fair to be critical of The Athletic in a lot of areas, but reviving a thread a month later over game time vs. real time?

    Humbug.

Interesting to see that The Athletic is avaiable on Apple News+ now. I was able to ditch my Athletic subscription and save $50 a year because of it.

The Athletic and the writer pulled the tweets. Unsure if the story is still up.

Story is still up with this:

He never watched “The Wire.” No need, he says. He lived it. (On Wednesday, Simon posted on X — formerly Twitter — that the Bird character was not based on Barnes or any one person, that the name was “a simple shout-out by Ed Burns and myself to a Baltimore street legend whose adventures date to the 1970s.”)

    LOLLLLLLLL
