But you have the right to run provided you meet the conditions laid out in the constitution.

Did Colorado put him back on the ballot pending SCOTUS? Thought I read that.

Yes. The appeal was filed on Wednesday. SOS needs to certify the ballots by next Friday as they get shipped out so he's on the primary ballot.

The man is a terrorist. And spare me the “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.”

Jan 6 was an insurrection. There is no debate about that.

He never should have been president in the first place.

Whatever it takes to keep him from being president again, I’m good with it.

I am fully in favor of any and every measure available to remove Trump from the ballot. He has shown through his words and his actions that he is not worthy of a leadership position at a two-bit startup, much less President of the United States.

However: If there remains any possibility that he might actually win an election fair and square — and from what I read here, it seems that folks are very very worried that this is so — that’s a way bigger problem, isn’t it? And that seems to be what we’re worried about — under the system of democracy practiced by the United States, there is a chance that he will become president by a fair, clean vote.

Put simply: If Trumpism is the threat to democracy, we have a chance to see democracy be democratically destroyed by a vote of the people.

If We The People are all in the same boat, and a majority of the People want to sink the boat, what does that say about the entire concept of democracy?

If it’s as simple as shutting down the Electoral College once and for all, well, then, we need to get to work on that.

Civil War Gaffe Undercuts Nikki Haley’s 2024 Pitch

Republican Nikki Haley, who until this week had run a disciplined and largely error-free presidential campaign, has been forced into an uncomfortable and unexpected new chore: doing cleanup on a blunder related to the Civil War and slavery.

The former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador was forced into defensive mode after she omitted slavery from an answer she gave at a New Hampshire campaign event where she was asked what prompted the Civil War. Her long-winded response avoided giving the answer to a basic question most learned in grade school, teeing up a barrage of criticism from political foes.

Republican rival Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, said Haley wasn’t ready for prime time, citing her “problems with some basic American history.” Democrats also heaped on scorn, saying the comments showed she couldn’t be trusted.

After Rise in Murders During the Pandemic, a Sharp Decline in 2023

Detroit is on track to record the fewest murders since the 1960s. In Philadelphia, where there were more murders in 2021 than in any year on record, the number of homicides this year has fallen more than 20 percent from last year. And in Los Angeles, the number of shooting victims this year is down more than 200 from two years ago.

The thought of seeing Trump nekkid is, to borrow from the aughts, grody.
