OK, I liked "Leave the World Behind" on Netflix. Good disaster popcorn flick. I was entertained. Julia Roberts' character is so unlikable, but she has to be. Kevin Bacon is our generation's best character actor. All the performances are really strong.

It was definitely a good "vibes" movie. Very eerie and interesting, even if everything didn't work entirely.

Gran Turismo. Slick but forgettable. Gave Hopper something to do between seasons of Stranger Things.

Independent theater here is playing the old thriller/horror flick Peeping Tom. Very strange, very creepy, quite fun.

Anyone else seen Poor Things yet? Or is it still playing just limited? Don't wanna say too much if it's not wide yet so hoping others see it as well soon. Quite the flick, still processing thoughts on that one.

Rustin, a Netflix original. Colman Domingo is excellent as they title character (I had never seen much of his work before), but it is not a biopic per se but rather focused on his organizing of the March on Washington in 1963. The always awesome Jeffrey Wright plays Rep. Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Glynn Turman, CCH Pounder and Chris Rock round out the cast. Recommend.

Saw Ferrari at an early public screening a couple nights ago. I really liked it and I don't care at all about cars or racing or whatever. It's very interestingly shot. A lot of close-ups but off to the side, so the viewer feels like they're in the scene. This is one of the movies that'll play best in the theater. Stylish and in a way that completely serves the story.

The one big flaw in the movie was the one big flaw in Enzo Ferrari's character. He really is
such an awful husband and father
and the film acknowledges that but at the same time it's sorta sympathetic.
Ah, women. What are you going to do?

We rented The Holdovers because it wasn’t playing near us at a convenient time and Mrs. W insists on a Christmas Day movie. It was fantastic— Giamatti and especially Da’Vine Joy Randolph gave wonderful and nuanced performances

Anyone But You was fun to watch and reminiscent of old-school romcoms.

Stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell were nice eye candy for either gender.

Ferrari. Adam Driver is commanding in the title role and it is very well-made, but second-tier Michael Mann. Shailene Woodley is a such a lovely actress, but not believable as an Italian. Cool to see Patrick Dempsey (a racecar driver in real life) though.

We watched The Holdovers last night and thought it is way overrated. Our daughter’s rant about “poor little rich kid” plots was entertaining.

I liked the movie well enough, but the way they reduced the number of holdovers felt very forced to me, and it was kind of jarring. Maybe don’t start with so many? It’s a nitpick, but it kind of took me out of it in a way.
