Total goals for both teams in second period.

Sens games are 29-2 O1.5 goals.

    Preds games are 27-6 O1.5.

Studied this for a long time this morning, know IUPUI well and what a dumpster fire the program has been in recent years. But what did the bookies know to make an 0-13 team a favorite on the road?? I chickened out on Detroit because if it was close down the stretch I didn't know if a winless team could finish.

But if this gives IUPUI more credit come Sunday against Cleveland State, great. I'll be looking at the Vikings.

FanDuel is on to us. Both the Sens & Preds were o2.5 for the second. Isles-Caps remained at 1.5, which hit thanks to two Isles goals.

Also, the O/U there for the game was 5.5 goals...which hit when the Caps avoided a shutout with under 20 seconds left. That's some funny shit, Unless, of course, you had the under.

Welp, I've been doing it wrong then. My bad. I took the team totals. Will adjust.

That's what stuck out to me. I couldn't quite comprehend a winless team giving points on the road. And outside of an early game at Ole Miss, Detroit hasn't been particularly close to winning. The Titans will get it done at some point, more likely at home. It's not like the Horizon is a great league. But I just thought taking the plus odds for IUPUI at home made sense. I've covered enough low-major hoops in my life to be able to spot a rat line when I see one.

The books all subscribe to a service where someone gets paid $160-200 to sit in the arena or stadium (per game) and dictate, like Morse Code, what happens immediately after it happens. (Ball/strike, dribble off the foot, 2-yard gain). I’ve freelanced this a few times for easy money.

I imagine they all carry a specialist on the basketball conferences who gives them an opening number for the lines.

    Tangent.

I met up with a college basketball coach friend when he was in town. He’s a D2 HC. Got to talking about sports betting. He asked how many bets can be made during a game.

I pulled out one of my apps.

He was particularly taken by the live “team totals”.

“And this goes up and down with each play?”

    “Yes,” I replied.

“Any college basketball coach could watch the first five minutes, see how the officials call the game, how the defenses come out and I could probably pick one team total and get it right, hmmm, about 80 percent of the time. Maybe more.”

    Now my eyes got big.

    “Really?”

He laughed and said “if I go 6-22 this year and get let go, maybe I’ll just do that.”

    It was fascinating.

He said the spread and the overall total are too tough to do but he knows which coaches are good at adjustments and how to put a stopper on a scorer.

Preds tonight (Saturday) at 7 pm. -200 tonight for O1.5. I’ll add that in with Alabama +9.

    Senators tomorrow at 6 pm.

    Get to it.

Got to notch one in the "good beat" column today.
Wyoming-Toledo is coming down to the wire and I've got Toledo +3.5 as the final leg of a three-teamer (Ole Miss and Maryland were the other two). Wyoming, trailing 15-13, breaks a long run on third down that looks like it could be a touchdown but the guy is tackled around the 10. Next play, Toledo is playing half-assed defense and the QB has, if not a clear path to the end zone, then at most token resistance. He decides to go down around the 6. Wyoming runs it down and kicks the walk-off field goal to win 16-15.
My three-teamer comes home, and after ripping off five straight wins I'm right at even for bowl week and NFL Week 16. Got one more three-teamer Monday to try and squeeze out a small profit.
