    Been to 1. Beautiful setting -- lousy, outdated stadium with awful sightlines, especially down low, and bad traffic (at least in the early 90s). Maybe they've done renovations.

    Have always wanted to go. Had the perfect setup for Jan. 1, 2003: A friend in Pasadena who bought tickets, and me spending the holidays in the Phoenix area. With Iowa as Big Ten champs.

    Instead, the B(C)S powers that were in charge of college football sent the Hawkeyes to face Southern Cal in the Orange Bowl that year. Bastards.

    Just saw McElroy is doing the color for the Sugar Bowl. Good for him. He's spent a few years paying dues, and it looks to have paid off.
