I saw it a few days ago with my wife, daughter, and mother-in-law. It should be old school since it is very loosely based on Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, but the stupidity of the central conflict just gnawed at me. The leads are pretty and the movie has some fun moments, but it is best to watch on some streaming service when very bored.

We saw Wonka tonight. It has its flaws, but its heart is in the right place. I went in expecting to hate it and didn't.

I tried to watch Dinner For Schmucks……I bet I didn’t get 30 minutes of it.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was on FXM last night. The last 15-20 minutes of that movie are just……wow.

Rewatched Prometheus; (3/4 through Alien Covenant). The expansion of the Alien story is something I frankly missed originally. Very well done by Ridley Scott, deep themes and thoughts in the movie IMHO.

Broadcast News, I think Hamm is Hurt 2.0.

Albert Brooks always funny. What a cast too with Cusack, Hunter, Nicholson and Bond girl Ms. Goodhead. (not PC)

Watched "The Holdovers" over the weekend. Really enjoyed it. Giamatti is so good. At one point I asked my wife, "he's won an Oscar, right?" and we both assumed he had. Apparently not. And only one nomination, for "Cinderella Man" in 2005, which I haven't seen. Thought he might have been nominated for "Sideways."

The film made me say that this year I'm going to try to watch a larger percentage of quieter, more character-driven films that I have in recent years. Not sure if I'll follow through, but I'd like to. As Bart Simpson says, "I can't promise I'll try, but I'll try to try."

It’s not easy to find those movies. If you are okay with subtitles, I’d recommend Past Lives. Aftersun (no subtitles) is also very good.

He's fantastic in Sideways....and even better in "American Splendor."

I’d forgotten about “American Splendor.” I loved it.

Ghost World. Never seen prior. It was really funny. Great work by Birch and Buscemi. Plus Frasier's boss is in it!
